ACLU TARGETS WEST SAC. LAW

Hudson Sangree has an article in the SacBee regarding the challenging of a court order aimed at stopping gang activity in West Sacramento, targeting the Broderick Boys street gang.
The ACLU claimed the court order, was issued without notifying those affected and gave them no opportunity to respond. Well my home was broken into 2 years ago and the robber gave me no notification or chance to respond!
And then we have to hear from the obligatory community activist Martha Garcia who make the moronic statement "It is not the gang that our citizens are afraid of. We're afraid of the police." I guess with 3 murders, 20 forcible rapes, 99 robberies, 355 aggravated assaults, 512 burglaries, 622 thefts, 365 car thefts, and 49 arsons with a population of only 36,927 Its good to have Martha Garcia as your community activist. Maybe she can bring West Sacramento from being the 89 most dangerous city in Ca. to #1 Then after that the lawyers for the ACLU can drive their BMW's back to their gated communities.

HIGH AND MIGHTY

After sentencing of Ahmed Ressman to 22years U.S. District Judge John C. Coughenour made the statement. The successful prosecution of Ahmed Ressman should serve not only as a warning not only to the terrorist, but as a statement to the Bush Administration about its terrorism-fighting tactics (not only a judge but an expert in fighting terrorism) "We did not need to use a secret military tribunal, detain the defendant indefinitely as an enemy combatant or deny the defendant the right to counsel," he said Wednesday. "The message to the world from today's sentencing is that our courts have not abandoned our commintment to the ideals that set our nation apart. Sir you don't have to send messages to the world just your own country. He added that the Sept 11 attacks have made Americans realize they are vulnerable to terrorism what intellect and that some believe " this threat has made the Constitution obsolete...." What would make the Constitution obsolete is Judges that legislate from the bench

THE SACBEE QUOTIDIAN NEWS

Well the editorial page of the SacBeeis asking the Guv to give up the special election. Some of the big reasons it states is that it would subject Californians to months of nauseating television ads (interrupting their Jerry Springer no doubt) and it would add more tedium to the quotidian.(wait a minute need to get my Readers Digest usefull word list)OK it would add more dullness to the everyday. What could be more dull then the everyday? But I digress, the Bee feels it would be better for the Guv to retreat and build his political capital. I think not, if he pulls out now he will lose a lot of political capital. One thing life has taught me is that when your enemies tell you not to do something, that's the time to do it

SOME LIBS ANNOYED BY HILLARY

Joshua Frank author of the book How Liberals Helped Reelect George W. Bush Has an article regarding Sen. Clinton's speech to the DLC on Counterpunch.orgIt seems she has the talent to irritate not only conservatives but also liberals as well. Mr. Frank makes the same mistake all liberals make and that's the premise that their losing was someone else's fault and not the fact that the people rejected them.

NO SHAME

Lt Gov. Catherine Baker Knoll (Chatty Cathy) D-Pa. Showed up at the funeral of Marine Staff Sgt. Joseph Goodrich who was killed in action in Iraq. Not only was she not invited but she started handing out business cards. She told the aunt of the fallen Marine "Our government" was opposed to the war. Knoll did apologize to the family, but the Goodrichs' said she also owes an apology to the Marine Corps. Ronda Goodrich said "She didn't have the time to be with Amy or Joe's parents, but she made time for the TV cameras." I guess this is how the left shows their sensitivity what a hack source

THE BIG MEETING

The Democratic Leadership Council held its meeting in Columbus, Ohio which ran from 23 July - 25 July. The meeting ends with the -I'm not running for President- Hillary Clinton, as of this writing the speech has not been given. The agenda for the DLC was to talk honestly with each other about what we stand for. Do you think that's the problem! that you have to find what you stand for. Conservatives know what they stand for and we don't have to search for a cause. Organizers said Democrats will try to "sketch out a nationally relevant policy agenda which addresses four big challenges facing our country today." I guess that would mean forming a focus group. What I thought was funny was their 3 big challenges
1.Creating an opportunity society to restore economic growth, upward mobility and economic security.
2. Standing up for American values and for the parents who play so important a role in protecting them
3. Reforming our broken political system, especially in Washington.
Well close the meeting and join our tent. That's what conservatism is all about. Its only taken you over 50 years to figure it out.

REP. WEXLER STARTS THE BALL ROLLING

I just finished reading a post by sactodan that mentioned the talk between Alan Combs and David Boies discussing the fact that Judge Roberts went to Fla. to help Jeb Bush with the election problems back in 2000. Neither of two thought it would be a big deal. Well here comes Rep Wexler-D. Fla. That this should disqualify Judge Roberts from the Supreme Court. It doesn't matter that Al Gore had the lawyers on the ground first. It doesn't matter he was a minor player. It doesn't matter no matter how many times the votes were counted W won. Please Mr. Wexler give it a rest. One need only to visit your web site To see your all about bashing the President.
I can almost hear Barb Boxer, then Sandra Pelosi all talking about Judge Roberts trip to Fla.

IN MEMORY

BOXER SPEAKS OUT

Well it was only a matter of time before Barbara spoke out regarding the nomination of Judge John Roberts for the Surpreme Court. In Barbara's statement she said" Judge Roberts could go down one of two paths. One way would be down the path of Justice O'Conner independent non-ideological or join with the right-wing block on the court." Well Barb what about the left-wing block? The block that would make law out of failed ideolology that couldn't get passed through the ballot box. or change law that citizens approved on the ballot. Or find law well out of the range of original intent. I'm sure right now you and your ilk are trying to find ways to smear and ruin this man's reputation.

DOOLITTLE'S CHALLENGER

KevinYamamure has an article in the SacBee regarding Mike Holmes, would be challenger to Doolittle's congressional seat in next years primary. Mike Holmes a moderate, says he is a fiscal conservative. I don't know how you can be a fiscal conservative and yet support the democratic platform of big government. The two just don't connect. Parvin Darabi a 63 year old supporter of Holmes said "This is a Republican-infested district" Well better call the Orkin man. How dare you republicans infest the 4th congressional district. By the way Ms. Darabi don't move to the 3rd we are here too.

WHAT'S IN A NAME

I love football, always have. I played and my sons all played. In fact I had a tear in my eye watching my youngest sons last game. Good old Cordova football. Today the Washington Post had an article involving the Washington Redskins franchise and Native Americans. It seems some Native Americans would like to see the name changed and its logo banned. Suzan Shown Harjo a Cheyenne activist and District resident who has led the action said the trademarks should be taken away because they insult them and hold them up to ridicule. Maybe I'm to far removed but I thought you named a team after something you respected or had strength i.e. Lions, Braves, packers, da bears, dolphins, er. Well maybe not the dolphins. I wouldn't be upset with the Washington whiteguys or Washinton Anglo-Saxons that has a nice ring to it. But I wouldn't be to surprised if they will have to change their name and get rid of the logo. Then the only thing that will remind me of Native Americans will be all the casinos I guess Ms.Harjo thinks that would be a better image.

SENATOR COX AND YOLO TRIBE

An article by Mary Lyne Vellinga in the SacBee states how Paula Lorenzo chairwomen for the Rumsey tribe said Senator Cox's statements were the "height of arrogance and paternalism" This is all about AB1747 and the taking of property through eminent domain. I feel Senator Cox is right and when gov. and other entities combine you need to be suspect. Assemblywomen Louis Wolk D-Davis stated her bill "Is about allowing a sovereign nation to participate in a partnership for the future management of the property" Ms. Wolk what sovereign nation have you sworn an oath to? With this land deal all you have to do is follow the money. The tribes atty. Howard Dickstein has made a career from Indian gaming.

A REAL HERO

If you want to see and read about a real American hero click this site This Army medic was shot in the chest by a sniper. He survived the attack, helped track the sniper down and then treated his would be assailant. He makes me very proud to be a retired medic and American. I don't thing the same thing would have happened if the roles were reversed. The American solder would have been beheaded.

SHELL GAME

Associated Press Writer Brian Melley's post in the SacBee is like watching the old shell game. After a measure failed in the Assembly to legalize gay marriage, Assemblyman Mark Leno, D-San Francisco (who would have guessed) slipped the measure under one of the cups, mixed them all up and now where is it? Well its under AB849 A bill that was supposed to collect information from fishermen. That bill was gutted and amended and Leno replaced it with the language from his gay marriage bill. This flys in the face of Californians who approved a ballot initiative prohibiting the state from recognizing same sex marriage. And as usual we will wait until an activist judge tells us how wrong we are. To leave a comment regarding AB849 go here

LOTS OF ADVICE

After reading Deb Riechmann post in the SacBee it seems President Bush is getting plenty advice as whom to pick for the Supreme Court. From Hispanics to women to someone other then a current judge, all had free advice to offer. Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev said he wanted the president to share the names of his candidates so senators could evaluate them. Reid went on to say he didn't want to "wake up in the morning and see a name in the paper." Excuse me Harry your title is what? Could it be Minority leader like in you didn't win. Your guy is not the President. Harry if you think George hasn't already had a list in place know wonder your the minority. Well let me give the President some advice. Don't take a butchers advice on how to cook meat. If he knew he'd be a chef.

Nothing new from you

Bob Herbert has an editorial in the New York Times titled It Just Gets Worse Its the same old template over and over again. Its just cut and paste. "Mr. Bush's misbegotten war" "The false belief that there was a link between Iraq and Al Qaeda" "The war has diminished the stature and weakened the credibility of the United States around the world" "Americans need to consider the damage it is doing to the United States, and the bitter anger that it has provoked among Muslims around the world" So Bob who mailed you the template and who do you pass it on to. Of the 879 editorials the Times archives of yours if I wanted to download all the ones that criticized the U.S. at $7.00 a pop it would cost me a small fortune. So you wrote how bad Bush's policy is, well what's your solution? Oh I forgot the left don't have any.

SCHOOL BUDGET WOES

OK I admit it I'm no accountant, but how does one mismanage $50billion? The Sacbee has a report regarding the financial problems many school districts find themselves in. Scott Plotkin executive director of the California School Boards Association and Jack O'Connell Superintendent of Public Instruction put the blame on the state's budget. Come on! politics aside what happens to the $51million per school district go? What was the $8334 on lil johnny in kindergarten spent on? Before you try to wrench another dime from my pocket or tell me why we need to approve another bond do me a favor SHOW ME THE MONEY!

Boxer speech

Well, Barbara thanks for sticking up for the country. Would you please go to London and give your speech there, I'm sure they would love to hear it. You talk of Richard Clark as if he actually knew how to deal with terrorist. The same guy that didn't know about or did anything about the attack on the USS Cole the same guy that didn't know about the attack on the Kobal towers or the Embassy attacks in Africa, or the first attack on the trade center. Thank God he's not in charge of security. And Bob Woodward the icon of the left media, please the guy has made a career out of Watergate, and was scoped by his own source deep throat. Beating him out of a major book deal. So please Barb you are a women of privilege try being one with a conscious .

TERROR IN LONDON

Once again free people are attacked and murdered by Islamic Terrorist. This small group of fanatics that cant build anything for anyone. That knows nothing of freedom would have all of us thrown back to the 12th century. Faceless men that have no courage to confront you face to face.Cowardly men that would kill women and children. Heartless men that are the work of evil and not of any sane god.
You will be defeated, you will not succeed. You only harden our resolve. You will be defeated because we have one thing you will never have...FREEDOM

BUDGET DEAL

Looks we finally got a budget deal finished, albeit late. Its just unfortunate that we still cant curtail spending. We move into the next fiscal year with a multi-billion dollar deficit. Yes we got a budget, but its just good for political fodder. Until we come to grips with the spending .Californians financial troubles will never go way. As more and more people are put in the wagon fewer are left pulling it.

Live 8

Live 8 has certainly gotten a lot of attention, as it was meant to do. However all the concerts in the world, debt relief and charity wont help, nor will all the pontificating at the summit help.
As long as civilwar is aloud to continue famine will also. I don't know why the rock stars don't go to the Sudans peoples liberation movement/army and ask them to stop recruiting children or ask why $500 billion in the last five decades has not brought relief. Since 1970 more than 30 wars have accounted for more than half of all war related deaths world wide. Until the despots that feather their own nests and starve their people are gone can things begin to work. Some analyst say"foreign aid creates and substains and unequal relationship that leaves Afican governments dependent on foreign generosity. It undermines self-reliance, breeds resentment and encourages corruption."

HAPPY BIRTHDAY THOMAS SOWELL!!!

Would like to say Happy Birthday to Thomas Sowell. His books on economics and society are well worth the time to read. I have always been amazed at his insight. His latest book Black Rednecks and White Liberals Is a must read.
His small article on About_Writing may be of interest to some.
