SCHOOL BUDGET WOES

OK I admit it I'm no accountant, but how does one mismanage $50billion? The Sacbee has a report regarding the financial problems many school districts find themselves in. Scott Plotkin executive director of the California School Boards Association and Jack O'Connell Superintendent of Public Instruction put the blame on the state's budget. Come on! politics aside what happens to the $51million per school district go? What was the $8334 on lil johnny in kindergarten spent on? Before you try to wrench another dime from my pocket or tell me why we need to approve another bond do me a favor SHOW ME THE MONEY!

How much discretion to the districts actually have? The state gives them whatever funds it decides are appropriate and then tells them what textbooks to use, how many students per classroom and God knows what else. Thanks to Prop 13 we are stuck with state funding for schools but lets get the rest of the state bureaucracy eliminated.
