SHELL GAME
Associated Press Writer Brian Melley's post in the SacBee is like watching the old shell game. After a measure failed in the Assembly to legalize gay marriage, Assemblyman Mark Leno, D-San Francisco (who would have guessed) slipped the measure under one of the cups, mixed them all up and now where is it? Well its under AB849 A bill that was supposed to collect information from fishermen. That bill was gutted and amended and Leno replaced it with the language from his gay marriage bill. This flys in the face of Californians who approved a ballot initiative prohibiting the state from recognizing same sex marriage. And as usual we will wait until an activist judge tells us how wrong we are. To leave a comment regarding AB849 go here

A "Shell Game" is about the best way to describe the "Gut and Amend" practice in the CA legislature.
