JUST IN TIME FOR VETERANS DAY

The LA Times ran a piece from Mark Rudd about Mark Rudd. For those of you too young to remember, Mark Rudd was the Head of the Students for a Democratic Society (SDS) and he helped present the manifesto of the Weathermen a violent splinter group of the SDS. In his piece he laments about the days in the 60's and his protesting the Viet Nam War and wonders why the antiwar movement isn't further along than it is. Well maybe some people remember what you said 'It was crazy,' he said of the experience. 'I think we were trying to prove that we were tough revolutionaries. It's a macho thing. It made no sense whatsoever.'(ref: Ben Kenegsberg,Columbia Spectator June 4,2003)
Mark goes on to write "My own contribution is to tell the story of how an antiwar movement involving millions of people accomplished something unique in American history and almost unique in the history of empires." What was unique Mark was the fact that your cause stopped the funding for the war and brought us GIs' home which caused the death of millions of Vietnamese and Cambodians. Its shamefull but not surprising the LA Times would run your self-aggrandizing manifesto the day before Veterans Day.
