THE REAL STORY

A great article by Jack Kelly in
Post-Gazette.com debunks the myth that the response to Katrina was slow, while in reality it was faster then the last 5 major storms. Jack Kelly points out that it took five days for National Guard troops to arrive in strength in Homestead Fla. after Hurricane Andrew hit in 2002. But it only took 3 days for troops to arrive after Katrina.
He points out that in the course of a week after the levee breached,1.More then 32,00 people have been rescued, many of them from the rooftops by Coast Guard helicopters. 2. The Army Corps of Engineers had all but repaired the breaches and began pumping water out of New Orleans. 3. Shelter, food and medical care had been provided to more then 180,000 refugees. Jack Kelly goes on to say "
So they libel as a national disgrace the most monumental and successful disaster operation in world history."
So as the Democrats continue to dance on the graves of the dead to try to make political hay out of the disaster, the truth is slowly coming out

I just wonder, if all this had not happened, how many people would have died. This was a huge storm and it blows my mind that so many people are complaining about the "service" rendered to them.
