Now that Tony Mendoza's', D-Artesia bill outlawing trans fats is on the way to the Governors office, I quickly closed and locked the doors, pulled the shades and went through the kitchen looking for the dirty oil the drillanator was talking about. My first suspect was the mayonnaise ahh 0 trans fats. Next was the bread again 0 trans fat. Could it be the Ritz Crackers? No zero trans fat there. How about my ice cream? zero there also,sweet. I know my frozen pizza:again zero. Knowing my abode was free from trans fats and no food police would be at my door I went to my backyard to enjoy the cool mid morning air with a hot cup of Sumatra coffee and a premium cigar. These two things alone would have my cardiologist notifying my insurance company. As I was enjoying my Man O' War robusto (a new label from AJ Fernandez) my backyard neighbor called over to me. He had a bag of tomatoes that he just harvested, that he wanted to give me. ( I look forward to this every summer)

When any tax is raised we have to rethink our home budgets to cover the extra cost. It was no surprise to me that the Editorial in the SacBee
gas tax"holiday" nonsense would be more of a campaign minute for Barack Hussein Obama then being an advocate for the consumer. The Bee reminds us that a gas tax is a users fee for the construction and maintenance of roads and bridges. (which is just as effective as tax money to the public schools.) The Editor also reminds us how good we have it "If anything, the tax is not high enough." And don't say would you rather drive into potholes, because I already do. This is the same Congress and with the help of the media that prevents us from drilling are own domestic wells. The Leviathan that is our government do with less:never.

In the Bee today an article by Andrew Mcintosh Feds to issue safety alert on nail guns Really nail guns are dangerous? who would have thought! After reading this I put my nail gun that I was using as a back scratcher down and ran into my tool shed and low and behold as I looked at my chain saw there was no warning on it. How could this potentially dangerous tool have no warning Why aren't federal safety officials ignoring this? Needing a frozen concoction I went to the kitchen and grabbed the blender, Awwwwwww no warning. Today I picked up a copy of the Gold River Community newspaper and was pleased to read the article from David M. Sander titled Raising Taxes Not The Answer.
During David's term as Mayor of Rancho Cordova they had a $10.5 million dollar budget surplus and built up over $81 million in reserves. David writes they did this with three mechanisms.
1. The Yellow Page Test: This done by looking up the public sector to see if they can find a provider of the service they need before creating costly new bureaucracies.
2. The Checkbook Principle: We spend less then we bring in period.
3. Measure Real Results: If we can't measure the results, we don't spend the money.
Such simple logic you think it would be applied everywhere and as a twenty year resident of the city I remember what it was like being under the boot of the county, and what great strides the Mayor and City Council have made in making Rancho Cordova a better place to live.
