Come to think of it, that would really limit their pay.

I believe you nailed it when you said:" I think that some propositions dela with things that legislatures are afraid to tackle."

I do think Arnold is tackling some hard issues.

I voted yes on many of the props he endorses. I did read them throughly though. If you just rely on the tv ads, you'll never know what to do.

Let's all vote for 77 and see if we can get some new blood in office. I'm amazed that these incompetent people continue to get re-elected.sandyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06802530014808008207noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13671315.post-1131162410933799212005-11-04T19:46:00.000-08:002005-11-04T19:46:00.000-08:00Yes! Issues make it to the proposition phase because the legislature is not doing it's job representing OUR issues... i.e. the people who elected them to represent us.

Now. What to do about it? RC is right. First pass Prop 77. Next, make them part time and take away their $$, perks, and power because that is why they continue in office. The job is pretty great only because of the drivers, the dinners they never pay for, the trips to Hawaii for this or that convention, the 100 staffers (Hillary), etc...

If they actually had to represent the issues they ran on... oh my. And if they were not paid or only paid a stipend, we'd see a real form of representation.

sorry for the flapping of the jaw...Katy Grimeshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00990099801243520229noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13671315.post-1131135394001316932005-11-04T12:16:00.000-08:002005-11-04T12:16:00.000-08:0011 04 05Hello Pappy:Thx for visiting the blog:) I ...11 04 05

Hello Pappy:
Thx for visiting the blog:) I do think II has a point, because the consequences of prop 13 certainly showed themselves in time. Going to a ghetto school in Oakland (before my parents moved us to Modesto) showed how community tax based school funding works for naught if your community has no tax base! That being said, there are many initiatives and it all makes my head spin! But I will put a sign in my front yard to support prop 73. That is what I can do to support something that I really believe in. What an engaging post! I shall visit more frequently:)Mahndisa S. Everytime we get another proposition, it makes we wonder about the long-term consequences of the propositions and whether we are voting to screw ourselves.

If we are paying for legislators to do a job and they keep punting back to us, something has gone terribly wrong.Intellectual Insurgenthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01436312941542559044noreply@blogger.com
